Graduation cap decorations – a pre-grad gathering!

Written by Shannon O'Gorman, Guest Blogger

Since freshman year, the girls of Newtown High School (NHS) eagerly await the time where they are able to decorate their graduation caps. They enviously watch the senior girls add pictures to Facebook of them all dressed up in their gowns and decorated caps, which highlight the college they will be attending and show off their personality. It’s not uncommon for girls to save the pictures of their favorite caps and use them for inspiration when their time finally comes to decorate their own.

Love Doesn't Cost a Thing

Written by Katie Turcio-Canales, Marketing Intern

Ooh la la, love is in the air, but unfortunately extra cash is not. As a college student I am used to finding ways to be savvy with my money, but that shouldn’t only apply because I am in college. Part of growing into adulthood is being financially responsible.

Our Frames Have Resolutions Too!

Don’t worry; this isn’t a cheesy “Our frames have feelings too!” post (even though we do treat our frames with the utmost care). Instead, we decided to poll some of our handcrafted frames right before they shipped out to our customers. We wanted to find out what our frames hope to accomplish this year. Needless to say, we were happy to find that our goals are pretty in sync.

One College's Ghost Stories

Ghost stories... how appropriate for around Halloween!  It's especially unnerving when the stories of hauntings take place in buildings at a most unexpected place - college! Hauntings apparently are commonplace at Kenyon College in Ohio.

Harry Potter’s Science meets the U of Nebraska-Lincoln

There’s an unexpected undergraduate honors chemistry class being offered at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is called a ‘Muggle’s Guide to Harry Potter’s Chemistry’, and it explores the magical chemistry - “potions” - taught at the imaginary Hogwarts School.  The twist to this course is that this serious subject incorporates a cultural aspect, which is meant to encourage more students to take chemistry.

9/11 Motorcycle Ride

The anniversary of 9/11 is here again.  It’s the 12th anniversary, and time has not diminished the remembrance due to the victims of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in NYC, the Pentagon, passengers on the planes, and the first responders. A tribute to 9/11 was held in Connecticut this past Sunday, a beautiful sunny September day with blue skies, which is reminiscent of how it was that day in 2001.

College Celebrates 4th of July with Declaration of Independence

As with any big event, graduation included, we want to celebrate!  So, with the 4th of July, many of us will remember the holiday with traditional cookouts and fireworks.  One college in particular, Williams College, will be observing the holiday in another way - bringing to life the heartfelt politics of the past when in 1776, a document was written calling for independence from British rule.
