You may be weeks away from graduation. Are you still thinking about taking on that one school tradition you never managed to do on your college bucket list? You may be concluding your freshman year and know of certain classes you want to take in the years before graduating. Maybe you want to learn a new language or write for a campus publication. 2.) Carrying Out College Traditions<\/strong><\/h2>

\u201cI want to watch the sunrise on Horsebarn Hill [a farm located on the UCONN campus in Storrs, Connecticut]. The Hill is special because it\u2019s very scenic and pretty. And that\u2019s where the cows and animals are.\u201d \u2014Natalie, junior at\u00a0University of Connecticut<\/a><\/p>

\u201cPainting the rock<\/a>\u00a0is a tradition [at my school], and it\u2019s something that everyone says you must do before you graduate.\u201d\u00a0\u2014Dara, junior at\u00a0Northwestern University<\/a><\/p>

\u201cSome of the things I want to do are attend a\u00a0UNC-Duke basketball game, try every restaurant on\u00a0Franklin Street, and steal a brick from somewhere on campus (it\u2019s a tradition here).\u201d \u2014Allie, freshman at\u00a0The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill<\/a><\/p>

Unlike high school, college life comes with customs and a rich and varied history. Carrying out the school traditions of those who graduated before you is exciting. 3.) Performing Community Service<\/strong><\/h2>

\u201cThe thing I want to do before I graduate is participate in a trip with my school\u2019s Global Outreach Program, which organizes outreach trips all around the world. I want to do this because I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever have a better opportunity or time to experience a different culture and language and also make some kind of difference in the world. I think that it would be a life-changing experience.\u201d \u2014Bailey, freshman at<\/em> Fordham University<\/em><\/a><\/p>

\u201cBefore I graduate I want to go on a service break trip and do community service during one of my fall or spring breaks. It\u2019s a great experience to meet new people, travel, and to realize how lucky you are.\u201d \u2014Kylie, freshman at<\/em> Villanova University<\/em><\/a><\/p>

Many college students join a club to perform community service. Members help build houses, serve at soup kitchens, deliver items to food shelters, and organize clothing drives. Working locally to create change is challenging and rewarding. However, if you really want to go outside your comfort zone, think globally. We have a gallery wall of Baylor bachelor\u2019s and masters degrees in our living room. 5.) Exploring the State<\/strong><\/h2>

\u201cOne thing I would like to do before I graduate is explore Maine more than I already have. I have done a decent amount of exploring while in college. This includes living in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru and hiking Mount St. Helens in Washington. But I have spent the last four years in Maine and haven\u2019t taken the full opportunity to explore all that it has to offer. I\u2019m an avid hiker and intend to take a little time this semester to snowshoe and hike Maine as much as I possibly can.\u201d \u2014Randi, senior at<\/em> The University of Maine<\/em><\/a><\/p>

Don’t live in the state where you’re attending college? Then be sure to take in the local beaches, ski slopes, and historic landmarks while you have the opportunity. If you attend college in North Carolina, be sure to check out their many hot air balloon festivals. Typically held in September or October, some counties even boast nighttime balloon glows. Are you a University of Arizona or Arizona State student? \u201cI hope to study abroad in Italy while I am at college. It’s very beneficial for students who seek to learn more in different cultures than their own. Universities offer safe and affordable opportunities to study in places other than your dorm room. Maybe you’ve always wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower or see the Taj Mahal.
