Frame My Future Scholarship 2009 a Success!

Our first year of Church Hill Classics’ “Frame My Future” Scholarship Contest has ended, and what an amazing response overall! We received entries from every state across the U.S. and there was a huge range of entry pieces sent in. We were sent everything from photos, collages, graphic design, and an array of different medium art pieces: to essays and poems; even origami and 3-d constructions from an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper! Things were entered that we never imagined we would receive. There are so many creative students out there, and we are so proud of everyone’s work and interest in submitting something to this unique scholarship.

Over 3,300 entries were received throughout the contest period, and at times my desk and I were practically buried in mail-in entries! Not to mention the hundreds of scholarship emails a day! Let’s just say I was extremely busy here at Church Hill Classics during that entry period!

It’s now the end, and our five winning students have each earned a $1,000 scholarship to help them further their education. Each winner also received a special “Frame My Future” frame featuring their entry, and our Grand Prize Winner also won a $1,000 donation to his school’s scholarship endowment fund.

Way to go to our Grand Prize Winner – Benjamin Hutto of Tallahassee, Florida, who is currently attending Tallahassee Community College and expects to graduate in 2012. Along with his $1,000 scholarship, he also earned his school, Tallahassee Community College, the $1,000 donation!

Well done to our remaining four $1,000 scholarship winners:

Ashley Heidler of Shippenville, Pennsylvania, who currently attends Clarion University and plans to attend Villanova University in the fall of 2009. She expects to graduate in 2010.

Dmitriy Podlog of Old Bridge, New Jersey, who will attend Cornell University in the fall of 2009, and expects to graduate in 2013.

Sara Coursin of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, who currently attends St. Norbert College and is expected to graduate in 2012.

Christine O’Rourke of Houston, Texas, who will be attending The University of Alabama in the fall of 2009. She expects to graduate in 2013.

Of course, we can’t forget our 19 Finalists! These entries made it all the way to the public voting stage. This is a huge honor, because our 19 Finalists and 5 Winners were chosen from over 3,300 entries. That puts them in the top .7% of all entries! You can meet the 19 Finalists and view their entries online here. Each of our Finalists received the “Frame My Future” frame for their entry!

Finally, there were 30 Honorable Mentions named! These 30 entries made it into the final selection stage of employee voting! These students deserve a round of applause for their hard working and making it that far. To congratulate them, each of our Honorable Mentions will be receiving a certificate! All Honorable Mention entries can be viewed online here.

With the scholarship program being such a success, we are excited to launch it again in the fall! If you will be attending college for the 2010-2011 academic year, you are eligible to enter again, starting fall of 2009. Sign up here to receive info about the scholarship when it is available, so you don’t miss out! Next year student’s will be able to creatively frame their future all over again, for the chance to win scholarship money!
