Danbury, CT – September 18, 2006 – At ceremonies in Vancouver, BC, the Council of Better Business Bureaus (BBB) selected Church Hill Classics as a winner of the 2006 BBB International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. Over 1,000 businesses throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico applied for this honor at the local level, with selected applicants being nominated or qualifying for entry at the international level. Church Hill Classics won top honors in its category of 11 to 99 employees. Steven Cole, President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, explained, "Church Hill Classics deserves our praise and recognition for consistently fulfilling their obligation to the marketplace to do what is right and what is fair by their customers, employees, suppliers and surrounding community. They have set an example for businesses of all sizes to follow, and we applaud their unique contributions to upholding a fair and honest marketplace." The BBB's International Torch Award honors businesses that demonstrate integrity, reliability and are dedicated to upholding high ethical standards. The Council evaluates each applicant against criteria including marketplace practices; high standards of behavior toward customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and communities; truthfulness and accuracy of advertising and sales communications; ethical reputation among industry peers and local communities; and training and communications programs to assist employees in carrying out established ethics policies.
Church Hill Classics began more than 15 years ago as a small diploma frame shop in the basement of a driven entrepreneur with a vision, and has since evolved into a thriving niche business. The company creates diploma, certificate and credential frames for hundreds of colleges, universities, professional associations, military and Greek organizations across the U.S. Because a significant portion of their business is licensed, they set an example in terms of record-keeping, reporting, and compliance with its licensors' requirements. In addition to the document frame business, Church Hill Classics also offers recognition framing for corporations and contract framing and fulfillment for clients including The Danbury Mint and Golf Digest.
Honored to receive this special recognition, Church Hill Classics founder and President, Lucie Voves, attributes the award to her committed staff of employees, all of whom rally to deliver superior service and act with conscience. Voves explains, "Having evolved from a small home-based environment, our culture has always focused on doing the "right thing." Our employees are challenged and empowered to "treat others as they would like to be treated." This applies to resolving issues and, most importantly, to identifying and developing marketing solutions, communication tools, and systems to make it easier to do business with us and to help our partners' grow their frame business. When our partners succeed, so do we."
