The National Association of College Stores (NACS) is sponsoring the second annual National Student Day on Thursday, October 4, 2012. This is a day to celebrate and promote college students who are socially responsible in the U.S. and Canada.
National Student Day would love for you to share your story about how you give back to your community. By sharing your story, you are automatically entered to win some amazing prizes. The prizes range from scholarships to iPads.
College bookstores will be giving away prizes, hosting games, contests, and even having some local bands play in their bookstores to thank students who volunteer their time to other people and to causes great and small. Make sure to stop by your school’s bookstore on October 4th.
Church Hill Classics is participating in National Student Day by having free shipping on all web orders from diplomaframe.com. Use discount code NACS2012 in the SPC field of the shopping cart. This discount only applies to orders placed on October 4, 2012. This discount code doesn’t apply to partner store websites or walk-in sales.
College students are volunteering and doing good deeds on their college campuses and in their communities. Because of their selfless acts of kindness, NACS wants to thank college students for their generous spirits. Therefore, National Student Day is dedicated to these special students.
The life of a college student is busy and hectic. Being a student is hard enough, but many college students also need to work to earn money. In addition, students are trying to gain experience in their field with an internship. They need some social time to attend sporting events and take a breather from academic demands. It is therefore remarkable to see college students volunteering in their spare time.
Why is Volunteering Important?
People volunteer for many reasons. Here are some of the reasons why volunteering is important:
- Get a ‘warm feeling’ knowing they change other lives for the better
- Life is less structured and less routine – less stressful
- Improves your social and relationship skills
- Interact with people you wouldn’t talk to daily
- More positive towards life
On the plus side for future career opportunities, volunteering commitments will certainly boost one’s resume, and employers will be very interested.
On October 4th, make sure you stop in at your college bookstore and see what they are doing to celebrate. Mark it on your calendar.
